Words of the Day

Each day we have a new Word of the Day (WOD).  We talk about the word and the students try to see the word throughout the day.  Listed are the Words of the Day for the 2nd 6 Weeks.  The students will have a quiz over these words at the end of the 6 weeks.

October 7-11

devour - eat greedily
frigid - freezing cold
eventually - will happen again over time
flimsy - easily breakable

October 14-18 

frivolous - of little importance
distinct - different from others
garment - article of clothing
evidence - proof

October 21-25

fertile - able to produce large crops
generous - giving
douse - to cover with water
extinguish - to stop from burning

October 28-November 1

elated - filled with joy
guarantee - promise
foliage - leaves of a plant
dynamic - full of energy

November 4-8

evade - to get away/avoid
elapse - to go by without notice
flourish - to thrive or grow well
grasp - to hold on tight
